VÍTKOVICE CULTURAL CENTRE [ Cultural and entertainment centre ]
A Neo-Classicist building without facade decorations dating from 1956-61 (from a design by the architect Jaroslav Fragner and financed by the Central Trades Unions). The facade has a flight of steps and high pillars embellished with six allegorical statues representing music, sculpture and sport (by the sculptor Vlastimil Večeřa), work with children, innovation, and chemistry (by V. Večeřa and Jiří Myszak). The cultural centre contains an auditorium seating 1200 people, a theatre for 600 people, and a cinema for 400 spectators. At the time of its construction it was the biggest cultural centre in the country. It also contains the bronze sculptural group entitled YOUTH and GIRL'S SECRET (by Stanislav Hanzlík).
