Region of Iron Mountains

Here, Mesozoic ashlar sandstone enabled the formation of rock towns and unique forms on the edges of plateaus descending steeply into valleys. The so-called lids are most striking. The nature and landscape value of the area is augmented by large wetlands of international importance, the Kokořín Castle and folk architecture.
