It was founded by Italian architects hired by the Bishop Liechtenstein during the reconstruction of the town destroyed by the 30-Years-War. This late-renaissance garden is divided into two parts by the main transverse axle. In the centre of the northern part there is a rotunda with "grottoes" and stone plastics. The other dominant of the northern part is the monumental 244 m long colonnade. The southern part is divided into two oblong fields with ponds, small fountains and two artificial hills. The whole area of both gardens and the chateau were registered on the chart of the world cultural and natural heritage sites of the UNESCO.
